Rating: The G-est of G

Warnings: Absolutely none
Author's Summary: In his career, Holmes only admitted to being "beaten four times, three times by men and once by a woman." It is generally assumed that he was speaking about Irene Adler as the woman, but perhaps he was suppressing the fact that he was actually beaten by another woman…

Characters, including any pairing(s): John Watson; main focus is on Watson & Holmes, also touches on John/Mary marriage
Warnings: minor character death, non-specific references to illness and depression
Summary: Glimpses of a shared life.
Author’s note: Many thanks to [livejournal.com profile] thesmallhobbit for the beta! I know that [livejournal.com profile] scfrankles has a special love for micro-fiction, so I chose to use the "1sentence" format, wherein one takes a prompt table of 50 words, writes one sentence for each prompt, and ultimately combines them to examine a character or relationship.
Disclaimer: Thank you, Sir Arthur. Also, I am grateful to the [livejournal.com profile] 1sentence LJ community for the format and also for the prompt table (I used their theme set Epsilon).

A/N: Thanks to my beta, [livejournal.com profile] thesmallhobbit, who, as usual, did a wonderful job, but also corrected my errors with some of the terms. Summary: “I have not seen a paper for some days." Dr. Watson in The Boscombe Valley Mystery
Disclaimer: Sherlock Holmes and Dr. Watson were created by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, but are now in the public domain. Dr. Watson probably isn’t terribly happy about this.
Author’s Notes: [livejournal.com profile] capt_facepalm offered the prompt “honour among thieves”, with the kind reassurance that you could “take it any way you like”, and this is what I managed to come up with. Some scenes and lines in my fic have been adapted from BOSC. Thank you so much to [livejournal.com profile] thesmallhobbit for the beta! (Further author’s note at end.)

Title: The Adventure of the Bishopsgate Jewel Case
Recipient: [livejournal.com profile] truly_bohemian
Author: [livejournal.com profile] inamac
Characters: Holmes, Watson, Athelney Jones
Rating: Gen
Warnings: None
Word Count: 3000
Summary: An afternoon stroll along a London thoroughfare leads to the uncovering of a four-hundred year old mystery.
Acknowledgements: My thanks to our Mod for patience when I was late finishing this, and to my partner and beta for keeping my nose to the grindstone (or the laptop). And to [livejournal.com profile] truly_bohemian for a request for casefic (I regret I could not meet your other suggestions).
AN: Researching Victorian Bishopsgate was fascinating, and very sad. Not one of the buildings which survived the Great Fire and past which Holmes and Watson might have strolled in 1886 is now standing. The seventeenth century timber frontage of Sir Paul Pinder's House, then an inn, has been preserved in the Victoria and Albert museum. Liverpool Street Station now stands on the site.
