Wow. Hurts. The set of Watson's jaw, like he knows what's coming. Holmes alone against the vastness of the waterfall. The starkness of this really portrays the moment well.

I was still caught up in Inktober mood when I made this. Luckily angst and black&white work well together :)

Thanks for commenting!

This is perfect. The uncertainty that waited with Holmes on that cliff.

Yes. My stomach rolls whenever I get into work meetings, I can only imagine what went through Holmes' mind, facing a possible death :/

Thanks for your comment :)

I really like the way you've shown the narrowness of the ledge and the power of the waterfall. And the way you've captured Holmes watching Watson walk away.

From: [identity profile] fictionforlife.livejournal.com
I've only seen that place from films and site photos, so I don't really know what there looks like exactly, but I decided on narrow ledge because it sort of adds to the under-pressure feeling of the situation, like one misstep could be fatal.

The waterfall was giving me attitude, it was very hard to get it right. Glad to hear it works for you :)

I especially have to compliment your Holmes. He is beautiful, thin and tall, shoulders back, collar up, accepting of what he knows is about to happen. I like that we can't really see his face, other than the shadow cast upon it. The way he's standing, he looks almost like he's tempted to take a step forward to stop Watson from leaving, but he doesn't, because he knows what that would mean.

There is so much story and character in this image. I love it.

I'm going to count your comment as a meta, yay!

Their faces were hidden deliberately, because I wasn't sure I could get them right haha. Tricky bastards, facial emotions.

Thank you for commenting :)

Wow! You packed so much into one incredibly striking image. Watson's determined face as he hurries away, and Holmes alone, on the edge of the abyss, not knowing if he'll ever see him again. It's brilliant!

Such beautiful work - so dramatic. And so poignant - it's Holmes' last glimpse of Watson. Like spacemutineer, it struck me that we can't see Holmes' face. He's already almost out of sight. The die has been cast - there's no going back now for him.

I couldn't think of a title for this drawing so I submitted it as Untitled, BUT can I steal 'last glimpse' from your comment because it speaks to me!

Angst and conveniently hidden faces work every time :)

Thanks for your comment!

OMG, this is amazing, anon.

A perfect rendering of this iconic moment, when there is so much Holmes must want to say to his Watson, but cannot. Indeed, must not. So he stands mute, watching his beloved friend for as long as he can, sending his silent au revoir from his heart. We see Watson, stalwart as he leaves. He does not know, not yet, but the strength that will sustain him through the next three years is clearly evident.

*killed with feels*

Striking and beautifully composed. I'm very impressed with how well you conveyed the torrential nature of the falls with such subtle details. Well, I'm impressed with all of it, really :) Love this, thank you so much! ♥ ♥ ♥

Anyway, I'm glad you liked it, thanks for commenting!

This is really nice. Poor Watson. You can see the pain. I love the starkness of the black and white. It works well here.
