These snapshots are lovely. Holmes and Watson are clearly having a wonderful time.

What makes this picture timely, in a sad way, is that this is an illustration of my story where Watson is recuperating from his doctor work in the middle of a deadly citywide epidemic.

These are delightful! I love the focus on body language and proximity rather than facial expressions. They are definitely candid moments, but seeing only small parts of them in each painting makes me feel I am getting glimpses into their relationship.

I also love the colours!

And it suits the ficlet beautifully.

Oh this is adorable!

I love the hairy legs of our bathing beauties. (One could strictly argue about the wisdom of wearing one's clandestine-marriage rings not just in public but into the ocean where a stray lion's-mane jellyfish could swallow them, but no doubt both were in the mood for a bit of recklessness after being separated all winter.)

Thanks for the Pfenninger link, too - his photos bring this milieu and that time alive so well.

I'd be happy to receive a larger version once my "mystery" artist is revealed. (Sorry, but your style is unmistakeable!)

I was looking through your ficlets for inspiration and had to do the Brighton one because that's where I live! Love all those little details you managed to fit in only 221 words.
How would you place it though, I was assuming late 1910s (flu), but would H send W to Brighton if he himself was living on a much calmer part of the coast, so maybe you were thinking earlier? As a compromise I had turn-of-the century inspiration and bathing suit references, but made them look older and more married :)

I absolutely adore this. I thoroughly enjoyed gardnerhill's original story, and this captures a lovely detail from that while still remaining its own piece of genius. Your use of color and perspective, in particular, make this sing.
