Oh WOW! These are absolutely gorgeous. I love the tone variation in their skin, the painterly style, and the use of collage--so creative! The compositions are stunning and perfectly balanced. I will be sitting here and staring for a long, long time, anon. Thank you so much for sharing your talent! :D :D :D

I'm glad you like them! I went a bit overboard with the colours, but it's so much fun I can't stop. Red noses for the win! ;) Thanks for taking the time to comment!

Well hello Doctor Watson. You're looking particularly handsome today. I really like the suggested movement in Watson's drawing. I've always sort of liked the Heart-and-Mind parallel of the two of them and so it's a nice touch to have their poses reflect a bit of that, with Sherlock's being thoughtful and Watson's seeming quite 'man-of-action'-ish.

I love the addition of the flowers and, of course, the bees! I think it frames the pictures very well and was an exceptionally clever idea :)

Your colouring is superb and you really utilised how warm colours bring things forward amazingly, particularly with the knuckles on John's hand.

I've got to say: I wish I could draw hands like you can because they're a work of art on their own.

Oh, thank you so much! Drawing hands doesn't come easy to me, but I think they add so much character to a picture that it is worth the effort.
And the bees, ha, glad you like them. I recently discovered my love for insects. ;)

Oh wow, these are fantastic! The details on the flowers and insects are magnificent. The poses also fit the characters really well. Love these!

I totally disclaim the flowers, but I picked them, ha. As for the poses, thanks a lot! I was thinking of doing face-only portraits first but then decided to go for this style, and I'm glad it worked out!

These are really lovely. I do like the choice of flowers. Do they have any significance I wonder.

Oh, great! I'm not too familiar with the language of flowers, but this fits nicely! ;)

"what a lovely thing a rose is" indeed.
As for the tulips, I read somewhere that they actually originate from Central Asia and they are as close a national flower to Afghanistan as it gets.

Oh. These are gorgeous, anon! I love the way the flowers frame the portraits, and the contrast of colors. Beautiful work, thank you.

Wonderful work! Love the use of textures and colour - so much said with just a few images.

I'm not familiar with the exchange - was this done as an illo for a fic, or in response to a prompt?

Your bees and beetles are simply spectacular. I love the suggestive way they're used to imply character and life. So cleverly done!

Thanks a lot, I recently discovered my love for bees, ha. Also, I think the only way to get away with excessive use of flowers is to put them in contrast to insects or viscera. ;)

Oh, wow! These are amazing. The colours are so striking and well-chosen, the lines, too; every detail. The concept is great, of course. And their faces are a thing of wonder, especially Watson's—for some reason his face moves me more deeply than Holmes's. It's like he'll speak to me any moment. Beautiful work!

Just what will he have to say, I wonder... :)

Thank you for your kind comment, I'm glad you like them! I haven't had time to draw in a while so I'm happy it still worked out.

My apologies for taking so long to comment on this - I've managed to friend you in the meantime, but not actually say anything, which is just plain rude.

There is just so much to love in these and well, they are so striking. I agree with most of the commenters that there is something ineffably charming about this Watson here, but at the same time, something about the composition and the climb of roses with Holmes always draws me back. Such motion both external to and within the line work. I adore the roses and the bees (Given how allergic I am to the latter, this is saying something) and the fact that they are clearly old fashioned. In some ways, they are very similar to the botanical designs my grandmother used to draw and ... well... on a very personal level it makes me love them all the more. Truly, I enjoy the beauty.

Oh, thanks so much for your detailed comment! Sorry I'm late, I just saw this!
I'm glad you like the bees even though you're allergic, I'm flattered I could make them look appealing to you nonetheless! ;)

I friended you back, if you don't mind?

I quite like bees and the idea of bees, it is just that they sadly do not like me at all. Oh well. Your bees are nice and safe ones! They are on a screen and so can't leap up and take a shot.

Of course I don't mind, although I don't think very much of interest goes on over at my neck of the woods! (Amusingly, I just wrote weeds.)
