Gentlefans,

This is the sign up post for writers, podficcers and artists wishing to take part in round 2 of the ACD HolmesFest. Sign ups open now and close on Monday 28 January at midnight, Greenwich Mean Time.



By Sunday 3rd February you will have your assignments.

Latest submission date is Monday, 18th March, midnight Greenwich Mean Time. If you are in any doubt of meeting it or need to drop out, please let one of the mods know *straight away* so we can reassign. If you are going to be only a little late submitting, please let us know either in a comment to this post or via PM/mods email account (acdholmesfestmods@gmail.com), letting us know how near it is to ready, and we'll offer an extension, but you must commit to meet this or all our hair will spontaneously go white and drop out, possibly not in that order. Offers of pinch hitters gratefully received now or in future.

Posting (anon) starts on Friday 22nd March, and ends on Saturday 6th April. Reveal post Monday 8th April.

Crossovers are welcome, but there must be substantial ACD Holmes content, please.
Icons or macros - may be based on any of the original illustrations to the ACD stories - not just Sidney Paget's. Camden House has a very full collection.

Type of work(s) you are willing to offer: Fic, probably over 5,000 words -- or I might be persuaded into art as well.

What you are comfortable working with as a creator: Het, Slash, Femmeslash, casefic/gen stories, character backstory, crossovers with relevant/period stories (thinking A.J. Raffles, Arsene Lupin - I love gentleman thieves) - but nothing supernatural. UST, Hurt/Comfort, -- I'd like to work potentially with any the following characters and/or pairings: Miss Violet Smith of Farnham, Violet Hunter (Violet Hunter/Sherlock Holmes), Irene Adler (Irene Adler/Godfrey Norton), Sebastian Moran, James Moriarty (professor), James Moriarty (colonel), Mary Morstan, Helen Stoner, Charles Milverton, Inspector Lestrade (Sherlock Holmes/Lestrade), Mycroft Holmes (Irene Adler/Mycroft Holmes) -- if anyone has a favourite story they want elaborated on, I'm familiar with just about all Holmes canon. I'm flexible with kinks & I like rare pairings (Read: LOVE rare pairings? You want Moran/Holmes? Lestrade/Morstan? ASK ME!) but I'm not great at writing PWP.

What you would definitely prefer NOT to work with: Holmes/Watson slash, plots which diminish Mary's role in Watson's life. Heavily explicit stories or stories involving non-con, character death, depression, a focus on drug use, Holmes-as-a-child or dealing with Sherlock's parents.

What you would like to receive:

1. A casefic told through the eyes of Toby, the trusted hound.
2. The continued adventures of Irene Norton and her sexy barrister husband
3. A young Oxbridge Sherlock Holmes solving cases with sidekicks Musgrave & Trevor (Pairings optional!)
4. What Holmes really got up to during his Great Hiatus, what her/his name was and why, after three years he returned to London and why he lied about the whole thing
5. As irritating and problematic as the book Ms. Holmes of Baker Street (http://www.amazon.com/Ms-Holmes-Baker-Street-Sherlock/dp/0888644159) is, if anyone has read it and wants to tackle writing a story putting the thesis of that book into play -- either elaborating on certain details (the pregnancies, the Hiatus, Watson discovering the truth, etc) or writing some new Holmes story with more veiled hints and clues about the truth about Sherlock, I would love to read it.

I'd also love just about any Lestrade/Sherlock, James/Sherlock, or Violet Hunter/Sherlock stories! I really like plotty-pieces, or unexpected insight into characters and their motivations. If it's slash/femme!slash of any kind, I really like a healthy dab of Victorian pining/restraint.

A Crossover would be great -- something Edwardian in Sherlock's twilight years, (I won't pretend Maurice doesn't immediately jump to mind. Because Rupert Graves.) If you want to write me a gentleman thief story, I'd also love you forever. (could even be a secret gentlelady thief! :D)

And basically, any of the characters/pairings that I listed as being okay to work with, I'm down to get stories about!

What you would definitely NOT enjoy receiving: PWP, Anything that dramatically breaks ACD Canon (any worst than ACD broke it himself :P), I'm not really interested in AU stories, supernatural elements (ghosts need not apply!) Watson/Holmes, Adler/Holmes (either pairing is fine as far as epic bromance or buddy-cop Crime Fighting is concerned, I'm just not interested in romance between them),

Any other information you would like to add: I tried to fill this with as many things/ideas as I could to give you lots of potential stuff to work with. but please don't feel at all constrained by the prompts or suggestions -- and I'm sorry for being so long-winded.

Whether, if needed, you could offer to pinch hit to avoid someone being disappointed: ...I'm going to say yes, but I also know that I'm notorious for getting stories in late as it is so I probably won't be able to, realistically -- we'll see! For a pinch hit, though, I'll probably be more willing to do art than write a fic! So if someone needs an artist, even if I'm behind -- let me know!
