Date: 2012-08-19 12:33 pm (UTC)As for sidewalk/footpath/footwalk - we use pavement for the raised area either side of a road for pedestrians to walk down - presumably because it was originally paved. A footpath is a narrower passage between buildings or anything that can be followed on foot in the countryside. There was probably logic to it at one time.
