Please comment to this post to sign up for Round 8 of ACD Holmesfest, a gift exchange for fic and art relating only to the original stories and novels of Sherlock Holmes and Dr John Watson by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle. Please see our community profile for more details and some comm rules.


Sign-ups close Wednesday 15th January 2020 midnight BST.
Assignments will be sent out by Friday 24th January.
Submission deadline is on the end of leap day, 29^th February midnight BST.
Posting will begin on the Ides of March (15 March).
Reveal post 1 April (or thereabouts, depending on how many signups we get).

Remember this is a gift exchange and we don't want people to be disappointed. If however after starting you are in any doubt of meeting the submission deadline or need to drop out for valid reasons, please let one of the mods know *straight away* so we can reassign. If you are going to be only a little late submitting, please let us know via PM/mods email account (acdholmesfestmods@gmail.com), estimating know how near it is to ready, and we'll offer an extension, but you MUST commit to meet this new deadline or the mods will be more than a bit peeved. One of us is British, which should tell you something.

Offers of pinch hitters gratefully received now or in future: there will be a volunteers' post for that and for beta duties. N.B. It is possible to offer only to pinch hit if you cannot be sure of being able to participate otherwise.

What you are comfortable working with as a creator: - e.g. gen, het, slash, particular pairings/multiples, casefic, humour, h/c, angst, preferred tropes or kinks [please list], how high a rating will you go, etc: we encourage as much latitude as possible to make it easier to match and because variety is good. Remember that this is an ACD fest.

What you would like to receive: - type(s) of fanwork, preferences as above. If art, please do NOT specify only wanting your fic illustrated. Not all artists like to do that.

Any other information you would like to add: You’d be surprised how helpful this can be to the one gifting you as well as your faithful mods.

What you are comfortable working with as a creator: gen, slash, Holmes/Watson, Mycroft/Lestrade, side pairings can be anything you prefer (het, slash, tentacles), casefic, humour, h/c, angst, bed sharing, getting together, first times, queer themes, kink (a specific one or just in general), explicit is fine, would be HAPPY to write a femslash pairing too
What you would definitely prefer NOT to work with: MCD, unhappy endings, endless angst, misunderstandings, permanent harm inflicted within a pairing

What you would like to receive: Fic or art, gen or (fem)slash, but I really do love Holmes/Watson (and if you're a Mystrade writer also yes please!!) would love art of something I've written (I'm Hippocrates460 on AO3) but anything soft domesticity would be A+, I'm a huge fan of storied art (little comics? big comics? speech bubbles? yes please).
What you would definitely NOT enjoy receiving: MCD, unhappy endings, endless angst, misunderstandings as a major plotpoint, permanent harm inflicted within a pairing

- Getting together/ first kiss
- Realizing how much they mean to each other as a part of a hurt/comfort scenario (or a case!)

- Watson teaching Holmes about the enjoyable bits of lugging around Transport
