Date: 2012-10-16 07:37 am (UTC)I like that here, Holmes is offering comfort and support to Watson, for a change, and that Watson could be interpreted as smiling through his tears.
Your delicate, detailed line-art is just my cup of tea, I especially like the lines in their hair, the detailed folds in their clothing and the whorls of their ears.
Excellent historical costume accuracy, too - I spy Holmes' waistcoat and Watson's breast pocket!
The watercolour style colouring is lovely and unobtrusive - I don't know how you managed to make Holmes in powder blue work, but you did, you did!
The little disheveled details speak to the back-story of the picture; their ruffled hair and collars softened from wear, and is Holmes still wearing the cravat from his bookseller's disguise?
My heart goes out to Watson in this picture, and ALL THE HUGS are just the beginning of the reparation Holmes owes him!
Thank you again.

Date: 2012-10-16 11:20 am (UTC)You did a lovely, lovely job with Sherlock's profile, and my favourite part is Watson's slightly mussed moustache.
Wonderful work, Sweetie.
Edited to Add: I rolled out of bed this morning when I wrote this comment so I went back to have another look and write some more!
Your colour palette -- you used a majority of cool colours and it really helps set the mood and the overall sadness of the piece, but there is a bit of...warmth there, sneaking in, especially Watson's arm, where Sherlock has his hand. I just think it... nicely represents how much they mean to each other and I don't know if it was intentional or not or if I'm just a ridiculous human being for reading into a slightly-more-reddish-violet but I just like that bit of heat. It adds ...I don't know. Hope.
I never knew a bit of pink could add hope to a picture.
