Gentlefans,

This is the sign up post for writers, podficcers and artists wishing to take part in round 3 of the ACD HolmesFest. Sign ups open now and close on Monday 26th August at midnight, Greenwich Mean Time.



By Saturday 31 August you will have your assignments.

Latest submission date is Monday 7th October, midnight Greenwich Mean Time. If you are in any doubt of meeting it or need to drop out, please let one of the mods know *straight away* so we can reassign. If you are going to be only a little late submitting, please let us know either in a comment to this post or via PM/mods email account (acdholmesfestmods@gmail.com), letting us know how near it is to ready, and we'll offer an extension, but you must commit to meet this or all our hair will spontaneously go white and drop out, possibly not in that order. Offers of pinch hitters gratefully received now or in future.

Posting (anon) starts on Monday 14 October. End of posting depends on how many participants we get. Reveal 48 hours later.

Crossovers are welcome, but there must be substantial ACD Holmes content, please.
Icons or macros - may be based on any of the original illustrations to the ACD stories - not just Sidney Paget's. Camden House has a very full collection.

Largely quoting one of my earlier sign-ups, I'm afraid...

Type of work(s) you are willing to offer: Fic, because I can’t draw. Probably between 1000 and 5000 words.

What you are comfortable working with as a creator: Slash or gen, although gen is likely to turn into platonic Holmes/Watson love. Also, I don’t think I could manage any pairings beside H/W (or possibly Watson/Mary). If anyone’s interested in Watson/Lestrade platonic friendship, I’d be glad to give it a try. I very much feel like writing excitement and adventure, but cannot guarantee a full-blown case fic. Apart from that, I’d feel comfortable with character studies, missing scenes, third-person perspectives, angst in healthy doses, h/c and possibly a bit of fluff.

What you would definitely prefer NOT to work with: I'm not particularly gifted in writing anything rated higher than R. Non-con and anything involving children getting hurt are way out of my comfort zone.

What you would like to receive: Fic or podfic; H/W slash or deep friendship (and since the latter is canon, I don’t suppose I’ll have to worry). The rating doesn't matter, but a bit of a plot would be nice. I have a particular love for established relationship fics, but that's not specifically requested. Case-fics are always for the win, but I know how much trouble they can be, so, again, that's no request, just a suggestion in case you feel inspired. Essentially I'll enjoy anything that's well written, half-way (!) original and keeps everybody in character.

What you would definitely NOT enjoy receiving: Again, non-con and child abuse; also (permanent) character death, character bashing, general OOCness, unhappy endings and an overdose of angst – or sugar. Oh, and I'm not particularly fond of World War fics. With me being German, it's just not one of the most enjoyable topics.
