So I loaded this up and read it on my way to (and my way home from) work today so first I have to say that it made me commute a very enjoyable one! While reading it, I honest-to-God forgot that I wasn't reading a Doyle story because you got the voice so spot on! It was great!
There were so many elements to it that reminded me of how ACD writes (and I liked the little throw to Three Garridebs with Holmes mentioning that if Watson was hurt the villain (don't want to give away any spoilers!) wouldn't have gotten out of the room alive! It's sort of funny because I was just talking about that story today and how it's one of the times that Holmes shows how emotionally invested in Watson he really is -- so I thought that was great to see! :D
The details in this story are superb! The question about whether or not the 'angel' might have been American, for example, was a very clever little addition to Holmes line of questioning!
I also liked how much Watson did in this story -- the fact that Holmes went off to do his thing (as he often does) but that Watson played such a role in both breaking the case and collecting details (from one of the victim's doctor's on his own) I love when John makes his own little deductions! I always find it so cute because you just know he's so proud of himself! And I legit laughed when Watson got offended by the implication that he couldn't hold his liquor! Your Watson voice is really great -- and a lot of fun!
Another thing I must give you kudos for was how, at the beginning of the story, Watson was asked if he believed in angels. You set up the club scene so well -- but that question was such a great hook that I was really intrigued about what direction the story would take and you certainly did not disappoint!
I did not at all guess the ending until I was upon it -- which I think is an awesome sign of a well-told story and overall this was just highly fantastic. I can't wait to find out who you are because I want to talk to you about all the little things about this story that I loved :)
Thank you so much! You really made my day with this!
