Following up on what happened to Milverton's maid and how she felt about it is a great basis for a case. Agatha is such an ambiguous character, a victim of cavalier behaviour and an accomplice of Milverton who learned many things from her employment with him and was willing to use them.
You've also given an excellent explanation of why Watson seemed to have various wives popping up now and then in his stories.;-)
