This is the sign up post for writers, podficcers and artists wishing to take part in round 3 of the ACD HolmesFest. Sign ups open now and close on Monday 26th August at midnight, Greenwich Mean Time.
By Saturday 31 August you will have your assignments.
Latest submission date is Monday 7th October, midnight Greenwich Mean Time. If you are in any doubt of meeting it or need to drop out, please let one of the mods know *straight away* so we can reassign. If you are going to be only a little late submitting, please let us know either in a comment to this post or via PM/mods email account (acdholmesfestmods@gmail.com), letting us know how near it is to ready, and we'll offer an extension, but you must commit to meet this or all our hair will spontaneously go white and drop out, possibly not in that order. If you would like some guidance, things I particularly enjoy include: established relationships, Victoriana/historical details, angst, strongly plotted stories. But please don't feel you have to include ANY of that.
Podfic: Podfic would also be lovely, of anything I've written, or of another Holmes/Watson fic whose author gives permission. I'm a big believer in all kinds of accents being great for podfic in all kinds of fandoms :)

Holmes/Watson is my OTP, but I'm also cool with just about any pairing but Holmescest, I even did a Holmes/Hudson upon request once and I had NEVER considered that before. No good at original casefic, but happy to write in and around a canon case. Work best with a prompt to get me going, but not necessary. Can do angst, but I'm not particularly funny. Can do simple sweet, but also dark and twisted. Kinks don't bother me, but I'd rather they not be the focus of what I'm asked to write.
What you would definitely prefer NOT to work with: No Holmescest portrayed in a positive light please! And no fic primarily focused on a specific kink, background kink totally ok. Other than that, I'm game.
What you would like to receive: Fic please! Holmes & Watson oriented. While they don't have to be together in a sexual sense, I do believe they are devoted to one another and that Mary Morstan, while loved by Watson, was a bit of a second fiddle. My favorite character is Watson and I prefer his POV. Casefic isn't necessary, but I do love catching references to canon. I often feel that fandom and Holmes adaptations simplify Watson for the sake of complicating Holmes. I really feel that ACD as his editor, edited a lot of Watson out of the stories and I really enjoy an exploration of him, his roles in their relationship, and his rather complicated nature. What made him stick by Holmes's side for decades, yet marry at least once (and perhaps as many as 3 times)? Why did he consider himself a doctor at all times, yet clearly his profession was immortalizing Holmes? And why those particular cases for the Strand? So on and so forth.

I'd love a crossover with The Picture of Dorian Gray, potentially having Holmes investigate the disappearance of Basil Hallward, the suicide of Alan Campbell(a man who, in the story, seems like someone Sherlock would know - Holmes even gets a mention in the annotated Dorian Gray when Alan Campbell comes up) or have him or Watson cross paths with - and be corrupted by - Dorian Gray himself.

What you would definitely prefer NOT to work with: Basically the things listed as things I'd not enjoy receiving, slightly smutty is ok-ish though.
What you would like to receive: Fic! I'd rather get friendship than romance, 221B domesticity and retirement are my favourite kind of stories. I like bees and music, if that's subtle enough a hint.

What you are comfortable working with as a creator: Slash or gen, although gen is likely to turn into platonic Holmes/Watson love. Also, I don’t think I could manage any pairings beside H/W (or possibly Watson/Mary). If anyone’s interested in Watson/Lestrade platonic friendship, I’d be glad to give it a try. I very much feel like writing excitement and adventure, but cannot guarantee a full-blown case fic. Apart from that, I’d feel comfortable with character studies, missing scenes, third-person perspectives, angst in healthy doses, h/c and possibly a bit of fluff.
What you would definitely prefer NOT to work with: I'm not particularly gifted in writing anything rated higher than R. Non-con and anything involving children getting hurt are way out of my comfort zone.
What you would like to receive: Fic or podfic; H/W slash or deep friendship (and since the latter is canon, I don’t suppose I’ll have to worry). The rating doesn't matter, but a bit of a plot would be nice. I have a particular love for established relationship fics, but that's not specifically requested. Case-fics are always for the win, but I know how much trouble they can be, so, again, that's no request, just a suggestion in case you feel inspired. Essentially I'll enjoy anything that's well written, half-way (!) original and keeps everybody in character.

A little humor in the fic is always appreciated, although you don't have to make it a humor-only piece; I like a blend of humor and action and, well, see canon. ;-) All that being said, if someone wants to podfic or remix one of my stories, that's brilliant!
What you would definitely NOT enjoy receiving: Non-con, deathfics, PWP (I like plot), torture porn (whump in service of plot is fine), infidelity fic, stories where anyone is being unnecessarily horrid to everyone, unhappy endings.
Any other information you would like to add: Really, as long as it's well-written, I'm going to be happy.
Whether, if needed, you could offer to pinch hit to avoid someone being disappointed: Sure. I've done it before, and had a good time with it.
