Volunteers Post!

Gentlefans

assignments are all now posted out, if you have yet to acknowledge yours PLEASE do so to avoid the mods finding a pinch hitter for your recipient if you are in fact intending to fill the request. Thanks

Meanwhile this is a post for people to sign up to provide beta and Brit- and/or Victori-pick services to anyone in need of same. Please comment setting out what services you can offer, what content you are happy to work with (eg ratings, tropes) and how many people you can help. Fest participants should then comment on your comment if seeking your help and after that it's between you to establish contact and make arrangements.

I'm happy to beta, Brit- and Victori- pick. I prefer G and PG. Can do PWP if all that's required is counting limbs. I will do standard tropes, if there's something particular, then do ask. As for how many I can help - that depends on number of words and timing.

I’m excellent and thorough at SPAG, sentence structure and general story structure (tear-stained testimonials available from [personal profile] smallhobbit). I’ve a thorough knowledge of canon, if you need any queries answering in that area. I can Brit-pick and, though I’m no expert, I’ve a fair knowledge of the Victorian era so can do Victori-picking too. If there’s something specific about the Victorian era you need to know and you haven’t been able to find the information, I’m a whizz with a search engine and am willing to have a rummage on your behalf.

At my best with a rating of G or PG. I’ll say I can help one person with a fic up to 5,000 words, but I’m flexible there.

Wanted: Beta for non-native

Hello!

I am in need of a beta because I am a non-native. My OS is ca 4-5k, rated PG, Johnlock. I would describe it as "slice of life"; so, no case fic/ACD rework/PWP etc but more domestic @211B. It's very Victorian ;)

I am aware of the fact that it might be a bit more challenging & time-consuming to help out a non-native. So: Thanks so much in advance.

Thank you!

Will send it to you as soon I am finished. The outline & first draft is done. So, hopefully, in the next couple of days.

I can beta. I know the Victorian era pretty well, although I'm an American, so probably not the best for Brit-picking. I can do SPAG and continuity-editing also. I'm not likely to get squicked out by anything canon-level.

How many? Depends on the timing, but I usually can do a quick read through over night if that's all that is needed.

I can offer SPaG and continuity feedback. I'm from the US, so unreliable on the Brit-picking, and I wouldn't trust my knowledge of the Victorian era, either, since it's more a matter of osmosis than study. My canon knowledge is rusty at this point, as it's been a while since I immersed myself in the source material.

I realize this sounds less than helpful, but perhaps I can provide the first pass through. I'm fine with any rating or trope, and the number of fics I can review depends on length and timing.
