Wow. Hurts. The set of Watson's jaw, like he knows what's coming. Holmes alone against the vastness of the waterfall. The starkness of this really portrays the moment well.
I really like the way you've shown the narrowness of the ledge and the power of the waterfall. And the way you've captured Holmes watching Watson walk away.
I especially have to compliment your Holmes. He is beautiful, thin and tall, shoulders back, collar up, accepting of what he knows is about to happen. I like that we can't really see his face, other than the shadow cast upon it. The way he's standing, he looks almost like he's tempted to take a step forward to stop Watson from leaving, but he doesn't, because he knows what that would mean.
There is so much story and character in this image. I love it.
Wow! You packed so much into one incredibly striking image. Watson's determined face as he hurries away, and Holmes alone, on the edge of the abyss, not knowing if he'll ever see him again. It's brilliant!
Such beautiful work - so dramatic. And so poignant - it's Holmes' last glimpse of Watson. Like spacemutineer, it struck me that we can't see Holmes' face. He's already almost out of sight. The die has been cast - there's no going back now for him.
A perfect rendering of this iconic moment, when there is so much Holmes must want to say to his Watson, but cannot. Indeed, must not. So he stands mute, watching his beloved friend for as long as he can, sending his silent au revoir from his heart. We see Watson, stalwart as he leaves. He does not know, not yet, but the strength that will sustain him through the next three years is clearly evident.
*killed with feels*
Striking and beautifully composed. I'm very impressed with how well you conveyed the torrential nature of the falls with such subtle details. Well, I'm impressed with all of it, really :) Love this, thank you so much! ♥ ♥ ♥
Oh God, it's a good thing I'm home alone so nobody can see me sniffling over this lovely, stark piece of art. Dammit. I should really stop looking at this... *blows snot into insufficient tissue*
