This is so finely wrought! It is such an intensely observed study of Holmes and Watson at that difficult juncture in their lives - worthy of Holmes himself! And so painfully tender, too. You describe them both wounded and barely beginning to recover, and yet both having the strength to persevere in finding their way to one another. Just beautiful!
