What a rich and empathetic exploration of the canon! I love your interpretation of the Sussex cottage and these lines particularly:
"'You have done more for us than you know,' Mrs Cubitt wrote. Watson gave me a speaking glance, and we chuckled cheerfully."
I love the symmetry of them and the vision of Watson's 'speaking glance' and the sound of their intimate laughter.
