Seriously, THANK YOU for your compliment. It's such a thin line, we're walking: on the one hand, we want to write as close to ACD canon as possible, on the other hand, we have to develop our own writing style. Pastiche/ fan fiction set in canon verse is amazing but so tricky.
(I will absolutely admit that I didn't write casefic because it's fun to read but do you have any idea how long it took me to write only THIS small deduction scene? And this was about cake. About corpse and cause of death? Chapeau to everyone who can write it easily.)

Oh, and for your favourite line: Yes! And I decided intentional to call it "object" and not "subject". Because it's Holmes as a scientist. I wanted to be as precise in the language as possible. After all, it's the simple things (that make it original ;))
