I think this is one of the most original stories I've ever read in the fandom. There are other cooking stories (notably Westron Wynde's First Catch Your Hare) but this is the only one I know of where the cooking becomes a deftly drawn metaphor for their lives together.

Let me quote the line that really struck me: "I was, am, and will be his favourite human object to study." A nice bit of insight from Watson. How well they know each other!
